The Best Western Rainbow Country Inn, will be hosting a fundraiser for disaster relief in Japan.

The event will be held April 21, 2011 at the Best Western Ballroom in Chilliwack. Doors will open at 5:00 and dinner will be served at 6:30. The night will feature a four-course Asian cuisine dinner, silent auction and dance. Many local musicians will be here to entertain us throughout the evening.

From the Highlands we carry The Dalmore, Oban, Glenmoragie, and Dalwhinnie. From Speyside we carry Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Glenrothes, and Macallan. The Islands produce Scotch that carries a softer peatiness and is sweeter than that of the Islay. The Island Scotches we carry are Isle of Jura-Superstition, Talisker, Highland Park, and Robert Burns. The Islay Scotches are the strongest flavoured: Lagavulin, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, and Laphoroaig are the strong, dry peaty, smokey Scotches from Islay. Scotch from the Lowlands is light in colour and it is produced with unpeated malt and has a dryness that is unique to this region; Auchentoshan and Glenkinchie are the fine Scotches that we carry from this region. Campbeltown Scotches are very full bodied with a slight salty finish; Springbank is one of three distilleries in that region and we are proud to carry it in our store.

There is comfort food…but this Malbec is comfort wine. Famiglia Bianchi Malbec 2007 is a reasonably priced, highly rated wine. From 88 – 92 points you won’t be disappointed with this grape juice.

Intense purple-red colour. Valentin Bianchi’s Famiglia Malbec has luscious, intense fruit aroma, with hints of ripe plums, cherries, and berries. The flavours of blueberry, black cherry, and smoky oak mimic the aromas, with a massive, yet soft and silky, mouth feel and a lush, long finish. It is the perfect expression of the highly praised Malbec grape.

This Malbec is amazing! I served this bottle with chicken souvlaki, rice and a Greek salad. It was a great pairing that I would suggest.
